Energy Local

Energise Sussex Coast wants to ensure that local generation of renewable energy benefits local people. Energy Local is a great new idea that pairs local generation with local households. It cuts out the middlemen and enables the households to access a cheaper price electricity. It also means that local generators can sell their energy at a slightly higher price than they would receive from the national grid, meaning that everyone benefits!

Energy Local has been successfully piloted using hydro power in Bethesda, North Wales. Energise Sussex Coast will pilot a project using solar power in Ore as part of the Climate Active Neighborhood project.  You can learn more about the pioneering North Wales project by watching the video below.

Energise Sussex Coast is currently recruiting 100 households in Ore who would like to take part in the pilot project. Read more about the pilot here. If you would like to get involved please email kate@energisesussexcoast.co.uk.
